I think I ran into this problem when using old ODBC drivers with SQL*Net 2.x. I was trying to use the Oracle ODBC driver from Visual Basic 3.0, which did not work with SQL*Net 2.1. I found the ODBC driver on the 7.1 install CDROM. What version of Oracle are you running and where did you get your ODBC driver from?
