Oracle/Unix Perms Problem Resolved.

Many thanks to you and to everyone else who helped to resolve the problem by providing suggestions. After performing a fresh install on a different machine and finding that it _did_ allow users other than the oracle software owner to connect, I compared all of the permissions on the "bad" system with those on the new one and, again, checked the items that you and others had mentioned.

When I still couldn't access the "bad" system as someone other than oracle, I figured the OS on the "bad" machine must be broken. <ha!> Actually, the OS was just fine, but the vfstab had been set up to mount the oracle filesystems "nosuid". Embarrassing.

Again, thanks to everyone who assisted with this little challenge.
