I vote for no split. The catchall group is very unlikely to catch everything. People are unlikely to cross post to a group they have no interest in. Also if I want to post a question to the group I will just post it to the group I subscribe to as I do now. Why should I have to cross-post to other groups, where I might not see the responses anyway.

The question of splitting the group comes up so often it ought to be in the FAQ, and there is obviously no demand for it.
