Searching Oracle Database from the web ?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what different methods are available for searching an oracle database throught the web ? I would prefare a method from perl ! Can I call sqlplus directly and pipe the command to my perl program ?

Anyone have any sample scripts of this method ?
