I have earlier posted a question on why SQL*Net drivers and ODBC in Win95 don't work. Thanks to all who replied. Here's a part of solution:

  1. The ODBC driver supplied by Microsoft for Oracle (made by Visigenic) officially does not work. Visigenic proposes a lame fix with adding NT files in Win95 -- no support, no guarantee and no SQL*Net v.2
  2. A company called Intersolv sells the driver that they claim works with everything - MS Office in Win95, and all versions of SQL*Net. A shipment of these drivers is on its way to my office - I'll post the facts when they arrive.

The new 32-bit SQL*Net client still does not work under Win95, while trying to reach a v.2 listener on an Alpha box, where Oracle server resides. The error message says "no listener". I've checked TNSNAMES and set it to the correct IP and port. I also checked that the listener is up. People with SQL*Net v.1 client do connect to the server without problems.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
