I am seeking information on installing Oracle Parallel Server on a Sun 1000E PDB cluster. The group I am associated with has no experience with OPS but has experience with Oracle. Given the lack of expertise on the staff, there is a need to verify information given to us from Oracle. Their claim is that it will take 6-8 weeks to configure the Sun 1000E PDB, install the OPS, and tune it. We have an Oracle database that is used now for software testing but it needs to migrate to OPS for produciton. Our database has approximately 300 tables that will exceed 500 GBytes after a year of production. The criteria for using OPS in our case is high availability since it is required that this database be available >99% of the time.

I would appreciate any information and advice for us at this point. Is it possible to install OPS in less than 2 weeks for a few people who have Oracle experience but no OPS experience? Do any documents exist at ftp or www sites that provide useful information?

Thanks in advance for any information.

                                        Regards,

                                            Tim Carone
