Doug,
I've scrounged out one of the original notes about it, but haven't used this utility myself. In fact, there are differing 'opinions' on the usefulness of it, ranging from 'great' to 'piece of junk'. The included text at the bottom should tell you about it...
If you're not on CompuServe, I think Ziff-Davis has a Web site, although I can't remember the name off-hand...

- included text ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We have experienced far fewer GPFs running CASE v5.1.8, CDE, and CDE2 design and runtime tools under MS Windows since we've started using a utility from PC Magazine, 1MBFort. It keeps an important area of memory that Windows uses better organized than ol' Billy Gates himself ever planned, especially if you use such memory trashers as Excel.
It can be had as 1MBF.EXE and 1MBF.DOC *OR* 1MBFort.Zip from the Ziffnet Tips and Utilities forum on Compuserve - GO ZNT:TIPS and look in library 2.
It loads when Windows starts (add it to the LOAD parameter under [Windows] in your WIN.INI) and it only takes about 10K of RAM. My Gateway 486/66 with 24MB RAM is much happier. Hope it helps you. (I can FINALLY use Lotus Notes and Oracle concurrently, without FEAR!)
