I am evaluating using an RDBMS for my organization and would like some information for the evaluation. If you have an opinion on one of these questions please respond to me on email at email address: rtk010_at_aztec.asu.edu.

Which of the following do you use?

ORACLE
SYBASE
INFORMIX
RUBIX
OBJECTIVITY All of the products above have C, C++ interface and SQL statements. Objectivity is not Relational, but it may do the job I am evaluating these for.

Rate each question on a scale of 1 - 10 with 1 being the poorest and 10 being the best.

  1. How good does product handle Dynamic SQL? The software does not know what SQL statement to process until run-time.
  2. How good does product do bulk load of ascii or binary files from with C programs?
  3. How good does product do Multi-treaded processing and/or Parallel Queries?
  4. Does product do auto-conversion for one data type to another, or provide functions to call to convert?
  5. How good is their maintenance response? 1-800 number or long distance call?
  6. How many years in business? When was first product sole?
  7. Life cycle cost? Does upgrades to problem fixes cost 15% or 5% of initial cost? How good would you rank products support cost to initial cost?

Thanks for your help.
