Help: PRO*C and GNU-gcc compiler

Hello Netters,
we are using Oracle 7.1.3 and Pro*C 2.0 under SUNOS 4.1.4 or Solaris 2.3.
The question is: Is it possible to use Pro*C (or OCI) in combination with more than one C-compiler, e.g. cc, acc, gcc (GNU) and perhaps c++, (simultaniously) in the same installation?
The install docs says, that only the standard (SUN) compiler cc should be used, but acc works as well. But when trying the GNU gcc, the "ld" step exits with fatal errors: "relocation truncated to fit: BASE10 upioep" ...
Which header files, libraries, options should be used (e.g. for ANSI-C) in
combination with each compiler? Any known bugs or problems ?
Do I have to relink oracle or to keep two (or more) versions for the compilers?
Which compilers and versions do work?
What are the restrictions concerning C++ ? I'd like to combine C++ programs
with "extern C" functions connecting to oracle.
Thanks in advance
AH
