We use SQR because there was nothing else available when we needed it (mid-91). We've kept with it because it seems to be a lot more useful in our environment (dumb terminals or PC terminal emulations ). The OracleReport 2.0 (& new 2.5 in CDE) work nicely on a PC client but I don't like them as much in ours.

SQR is more flexible too. We use it to both read from flat files (instead of SQL*Loader) and to write to flat files (for data passoff to Oracle Financials). As a full fledged 4GL it is easy for new I.S. staff to catch on and use it well.

The only problem seems to be licence costs. We recommended SQR to another firm in town, but the fees were too high. They are still searching for something to use though.
