An appeal for help -
I have a strange and subtle problem trying to get the ODBC interface working from Lotus 1-2-3 Release 5 for Windows to a remote Oracle 7 DB, via SQL*Net v2 for Windows. Has anyone else actually tried this and got it working?
I have downloaded the ODBC driver for Oracle7, configured it according to instructions, and tested it with the included ODBCTST (test) application. It's version 1.10.0001 . I can use the Lotus-to-ODBC-to-dBase drivers (supplied by Lotus) with no problems.
I have downloaded the latest Lotus DataLens-to-ODBC driver, DLODBC.DLL from the Lotus Spreadsheet Forum (Compuserve), and set up the Datalens control file, LOTUS.BCF as best I can see.
The problem is this in summary: I can make a connection, look at, scroll, and refresh data, but when I attempt to "Disconnect", I get multiple page faults, first in the network drivers (TCP/IP-based, Windows DLLs, from FTP, Inc.) and then in Windows itself, and a crash of Windows. Another method of connecting works also, but the disconnect causes a dialog box to pop up with garbage ASCII in the title and contents - and then a Windows crash.
Has anyone seen this kind of stuff - or gotten 1-2-3 r5/Win to ODBC to Oracle7 to work?
Thanks -
Tony
