I agree with that. I have actually experienced the "changing rowid" phenomenon (once, about 1.5 years ago).
The table I worked with was BIG. It had about 6 million rows and a few hundred megabytes in size (the size was obtained by calculating the maximum size of a record with the number of records. It was probably about 20% larger than actual size but still in the hundreds of megabytes range). In addition, it is probably affected by other database parameters. So, the best bet is to ask ORACLE as they know how the engine works.
