I have finally (!!) completed the ORACLEWare install on Novell 3.12. Here is a summary of the problems we encounterd, maybe this will help future upgrades/installs:

  1. ORACLEWare is supported by Novell NOT ORACLE Corp. This was a major shock to the client, who went back and negotiated maintenance with ORACLE Corp.
  2. For whatever reason, the system consistently blows when RAM above 160MG is used. Novell and IBM says its an ORACLE bug, ORACLE Corp. says its an IBM or Novell bug, the cause is still unknown.
  3. there is a bug in IBM PC diagonistic software, so certain memory problems are not diagnosed. IBM is working on the fix.
  4. Instead of using NLMs, one should upgrade to using VLMs (sorry, I'm not a comm preson, but this was the way it was explained to me) on all the clients. Apparently the upgrade occured on the server side, but not the client side, so data was being pusched down the pipeline using 80 packet frames with lots of handshaking between the two. Once the clients were upgraded, we encountered a 150% increase in performance.

Again, thanks to all for the advice, all of it was good.
