We run it on Netware and it seems to do OK. We test with a simple version of the TPC A benchmark and are getting 30+ transactions per second with a 'medium' init.ora, 4 disks, and a pentium Compaq. I've seen benchmarks over 100+ transactions per second published for Netware/Oracle. One plug for Compaq, it seems to perform better than comparable intel boxes, also Oracle uses them for their benchmarks. It blew away a small two processor DG. (Can't touch the big UNIX boxes though)

You should get lots of memory, 64meg or more and the more disks the better. If you have a single large table that everyone will be hitting, strip it and it's index across several disks. Even better use Compaq's intellegent controller to do RAID, $600 but it works great.
