What always helps is if people give their hardware configuration as well as Oracle and operating systems specifics. I once spent about 5 rounds of e-mail messages with someone trying to tune their Oracleware install only to discover they had it running on a 486/33SX with 16 meg of RAN and while serving print jobs out of the parallel port and MS-Office off of the same hard disk.
In general, as has been stated, Oracle is RAM hungry on any platform.
Also, some indication of network load, i.e. 35 users on ethernet running IPX, etc.
