We run Oracle7 as an NLM on NetWare 4.02 (Bindery). We have developers creating PB applications which issue connects to Oracle. Each machine has a copy of SQLSPX in their autoexec as well as NETINIT in their startup.grp. _Intermittantly_, we will get the ORA-3112 error message and be unable to connect. Upon closing one or more applications, the folks can connect. We've observed that it is not a matter of how much memory, but what memory locations the applications are contenting for. This poses two questions:

  1. Is there a more efficient way to connect to Oracle other than the DOS-based SQLSPX combined with NETINIT?
  2. Should we be concerned with multiple PB applications running on our user's machines? Would the applications be able to share the connection since each application would issue its own Oracle connection.

TIA
