Another way would be to try to import a version 6 export, however some research will need to be done because long field will not come in correctly. I found that I had to look into change the language set that is used when importing.

In hind site the easiest way was to create a database link and bring the tables over one by one or create a sqlplus script. With version 7 the distributed database option was unbundled so if it was not purchased it will not be available.

Let me know what happened.
