I'd like to be able to copy an instance to a different partition, recreate the control file, and rename the sid.
I've got it working on a shutdown database, but can't do it live as in marking begin backup, copying data, marking end, because when creating the control file you have to use the RESETLOGS option, which destroys pending transactions.
Anybody done this? (Oracle 7, of course) Received on Fri May 27 1994 - 16:09:00 CEST
