Greetings,

I am looking for some people who are using Oracle 7 for Netware. Preferably in a student environment. Our Uni is looking at the software. Our P.C.'s do not have Hard Disks so all software will come from the server.

Our 486's currently only have 4 mb RAM. I realise we will have to increase to 16 mb RAM to use Forms 4.0 and Reports 2.0 properly.

This represents a big upgrade. Will it be worthwile ? My personal machine seems to run OK with Forms 4.0 loaded from the server. I am the only one with 16 mb RAM so I haven't been able to get concrete proof of 20 or 40 P.C's similarly "pumped up" with memory.

16 mb RAM seems to allow all DLL's to be loaded into workstation memory. Can I be sure I will get acceptable response once all 20/40 machines are using ORACLE ? I also realise initial load time will be terrible. But I am thinking that once everyone has for example Forms 4.0 loaded, performance should be OK.

Anybody know otherwise or confirm my thoughts ?

Regards

David Dodds
