Hi There,
I've been appointed DBA of an Oracle7 50Gb database running under Solaris 2.3.
I'm tempted to create a buffer pool of 750Mb once we get 1Gb of ram.
But I'm curious; will an extremely large buffer pool help me when doing selects from a 10Gb table?
Is there a point at which getting blocks from disk is quicker than getting them from a very large buffer pool?
Could that point be a buffer pool of 100Mb?
-Dan
