Employment History:
6/88 - Present Collagen Corporation, Palo Alto, CA
Programmer/Analyst
* Participated as technical lead in development team for trend analysis
reporting system. The LOTANA system consolidated data from several
heterogeneous systems including Oracle and the AS-400 into a central
data warehouse. Used Oracle6, SQL*FORMS, SQL*MENU, SQL*LOADER, PL/SQL,
Pro*C and UNIX shell scripts to fully automate this monthly procedure.
Provided automated archival and restoration of frozen data sets.
* Designed a standard approach and methodology for creating clinical
trial databases with Oracle development tools. Automation,
standardization and modular coding techniques were used to design a
Clinical Data Management System(CDMS). Wrote reusable general
purpose PL/SQL procedures under SQL*FORMS. Consideration was given
to the fact that clinical studies require a quick turn around on a
large number of full-featured data entry screens.
* Functioned as technical lead of a development team for the
implementation of numerous clinical trial database applications
using CDMS as the model.
* Designed and implemented double data entry discrepancy checking
software using PL/SQL, Korn shell, awk and other UNIX tools.
Wrote code-generation scripts to automate the production of
discrepancy checking software for each new clinical study.
* Designed and implemented validation system for Adverse Events
database application using advanced rule-based validation. Included
database application to track history of all rules. The validation
engine utilized the rules database to determine how to validate any
given adverse event record. Used Oracle6, SQL*FORMS3.0, PL/SQL and
UNIX tools such as the korn shell, lex/yacc and awk.
* Developed and documented company application development standards
and guidelines for using Oracle development tools. Established
company standards for software release procedures, user interface
guidelines, data coding, entity relationships and database
optimization strategies.
* Participated in conversion of existing applications from Oracle6 to
Oracle7 and SQL*FORMS 3.0 to Oracle*Forms 4.0.
* Participated in development of software to translate AS-400 binary
data files into standard ASCII text files under UNIX. Used shell
scripts to automate FTP file transfer procedures and C language to
translate the binary files into ASCII.
* Taught SQL classes to other non-technical employees as part of
in-house software training program.
* Designed and implemented various small database applications as
requested by various departments throughout the company including
manufacturing, R&D, and Finance. Used client/server development
tools such as Oracle*Forms, ClearAccess, Oracle Report Writer
and Excel. Developed applications under Windows, Mac OS and UNIX.
* Investigated new development products. Responsible for knowing
latest industry trends and technologies. Evaluated all new tools
and made recommendations for department-wide purchases.
* Developed numerous software tools and utilities for company-wide use.
Utilized UNIX shell scripts, C language, lex/yacc, Oracle tools
and other third party products.
3/92 - 7/92 EPRI, Palo Alto, CA
Contract Programmer
* Provided programming support for migration of data from
Microcomputer based systems into enterprise-wide client/server database.
* Designed and implemented advanced Excel macros to consolidate
spreadsheet data contained in hundreds of different spreadsheets
into one ASCII text file.
6/90 - 7/91 Celtrix Laboratories, Palo Alto, CA
MIS Coordinator
* Coordinated and managed all MIS related issues for Celtrix.
* Designed and implemented Animal Facilities database application
for networked PC's and Macs using Foxbase.
* Maintained Local Area Network, including Novell File Server, Macs,
PC's, ethernet, localtalk, token ring and all applicable gateways,
bridges and routers.
* Established and maintained vendor relations. Approved and
coordinated all MIS related purchases for Celtrix.
Education:
1992-1994 National University, San Jose, CA - B.S. in Computer Science
Highlights
- Designed and implemented a small PASCAL interpreter using finite state machine theory.
- Designed and implemented a Boolean expression parser which compared any two Boolean expressions and determined if they were equivalent using Lex/Yacc.
- Participated as technical lead in development team for Senior Project. Designed and implemented GAP(Graphically Assisted Programming), a graphical programming language. GAP was implemented using C language under MS Windows. Was primarily responsible for Graphical User Interface implementations.
