A product called DB2 runs on OS/2, the RS/6000 and MVS. Too bad they're different databases. As far as DB2 becoming the standard, it's also too bad for IBM that none of their databases fully adheres to FIPS 127-2, the government's current standard for SQL based databases. But then again, none of the IBM databases fully adhere to IBM's standards for SQL based databases.
