Alert's and Pipes in distributed environments.

Running Oracle 7.0.16.2

Having tried the alert and pipe packages not only on one instance, but also on instances sharing the same database with the parallel server option, and saw that they seems to work ok.

But when we are splitting the database in a distributed environment, how can we maintain the same alert structure, having one process waiting for alerts on one site, and having triggers signaling these alerts on other sites? Has anybody tried this?

One of the steps must be to make the dbms_alert_info table global to the whole system, but what about the internal piping mechanism?
