Query & Report Writer Application Wanted for GUI UNIX

I would appreciate recommendations regarding a GUI SQL database query and report writing application to run in a Sun UNIX environment which will be used with a Sybase V.9 database. Preference would be given to soft-ware which is database-independent, so that, should the database be moved to Informix or Oracle, or whatever, current users would not need to learn a new application, and any query or report formats could be re-used without modification (assuming table structure remains the same).
