Hi,

I'm fairly new to SQLForms/triggers and this news group, I'm hoping that someone out there may help with an error I've enounter'd.

The Scenario:

I have a master-detail relationship where the field which joins the two is not "visible" in the form. There is an additional complication in that there is a reference (copy) of one of the detail block's fields.

The intention is use the referenced, detail field on the same page as the master block, presenting the user a screen containing the master block information and a single field from the detail block. If the user wants more information on the detail block they can bring up the detail info. in a popup window.

The Problem:

I have tested this form using data I have inserted into the database manually. However when I've tried to enter data through the form I'm asked whether I want to commit the changes, when I respond (yes) I get the following error:

FRM-40508: ORACLE error -- unable to INSERT record

I've checked that the tables exist and that I have the appropraite permissions (as suggested by the Designers reference). But I cant find the error.

The Request:

Am I doing something which is feasible? (re Senario), Is there a prefered method of doing this? Is there a means by which I can pin point the real cause of this problem?

Any help gratefully acknowledged (M-x spell-buffer)
