Our setup uses AcuCobol fine: we had to patch in SQLADR to the runtime interpreter, and then figure out why we were getting bus errors (the same alignment errors mentioned above).
But, we can't call COBOL from anything else, due to the definition of main in both the calling program and in the runtime interpreter.
