Jim:
Here's a few answers. Hope they help!
- It is made by (or currently owned by) Sybase, and previously owned By SQL Solutions.
- The last phone number I have is 310-424-4399
- We have been developing in SQR at this site for about 4-5 years now.
- IMHO:
Strong Points:
- Very easy to write a quick report if you already have knowledge of SQL.
- Procedural language
- Compiles to a run-time form just like a SQL*Forms .FRM.
- Can be used for other things as well as reports. We currently have a plethora of programs written such as data loads, flat-file dumps, etc.
- Available on a variety of platforms (We currently run VMS, DOS, and Unix versions) Weak Points:
- Can be somewhat slow sometimes, but only if you're using it to do strange stuff like data loads, etc.
- A couple of environment variable bugs in the Unix version don't allow for use of environment variables very easy (they're "working on it")
- Don't know if this is applicable, but it seems that the company has changed hands a lot in the past two years. The quality of the product and service hasn't changed though.
- It varies based on platform. It would be best for you to call the number and I'm *SURE* they will be glad to tell you! ;^>
Hope this helps!
