In some engines it is valid to make a 'quick' copy of a BLOb column by just assigning the BLOb id held in the column of the source row into the corresponding column in the target row. Sort of like making another link to a UNIX file. Can someone confirm which other engines support/disallow this?
INGRES, SYBASE, ORACLE and INFORMIX.
thanks.
