I am new to oracle. I am trying to load a data base with several LARGE flat files (> 200meg each). Each record is date and time stamped, but the date and time are disjoint.

... YYMMDD .... SSSSS .... The records are fixed length, and the fields are fixed. There is data in between the two fields, that I need.

Any ideas on how to get these together into a single database column? If need be I can hack a perl script to do it, but I was hoping there was a way to do it inside SQL Load.

Thanks.

They came for the 4th amendment, I said nothing for I wasn't a drug dealer. Then they came for the 2nd amendment, but I said nothing, I wasn't a gun owner. Then they came for the 6th amendment, but I kept quiet, I knew I wasn't guilty. Finally they came for the 1st amendment, and it was too late to say anything.
