Does anyone care to share what there favorite SQL text is, and why?

I am up to speed on Oracle and SQL in general (took the PC-based training), and I have written my share of Pro*C programs and SQLPlus scripts. And all of my selects have been coded the hard way.

However, I can't seem to find an advanced user's guide for SQL. (By advanced I do not mean the following:

5 different ways to say 'not equal'
29 business functions that you will never use
	DB security
	etc.)

What I do mean is that I can't seem to find a text that goes in depth on difficult queries. Combinations of all types of joins and subqueries, in depth treatment of the different ways of speeding up complex query X. And why each one of them works, etc.

The books I already have which don't do the SELECT clause justice:

The Practical SQL Handbook, by Emerson, Darnovsky, Bowman
	Sybex: Understanding ORACLE, by Lateer

Or is there a FAQ with this info available? Tom (moeller_at_convex.com) Received on Thu Dec 17 1992 - 21:36:47 CET
