If you mean a DOS product which will act as the server for EXTERNAL clients, no.

The only difference is the "AT :connect_string" clause attached to the CONNECT clause in the EXEC SQL statement. There is a way to specify the local database so that your program doesn't have to change internally when you are internal/external databases. According to the Miaco folks who make AntWorks, they had to do some tweaking on their client/remote database version because of the way SQL*net does its parsing and binding etc.
