Hi!
Answer:
I was logged in UNIX account "oracle" which has tha UNIX group "dba".
-- I should do a precision with my comparison between "oemapp dbastudio" and "sqlplus /nolog", that I discovered later; in "oemapp dbastudio" I entered user/password while in "sqlplus /nolog" i did not enter password during my testing. When I enter user/password also in "sqlplus /nolog" it works (sorry about the inaccuracy) I suppose that this is because i have set Exclusive (?) I have at the moment added the username and password in the "dbstart" script myself and this works. However I am not quite happy with that. Is it the "correct" way to make the dbstart work, to hardcode the username/password in "dbstart", when I choose Exclusive? I would therefore like to change the question to: In Oracles standard "dbstart" script they have used the syntax "connect /as sysdba" which seems better since I dont have to update that script later if I change the password. Is it possible to keep this script in that way even though I have Exclusive? If I sound confused, it is correct :-) FrankReceived on Thu Mar 27 2003 - 16:20:00 CET
