Hi,

One of our beta testers, an Oracle DBA from a major global manufacturer plans to use it in a in-house application for use by several departmental groups. He had the following to say about SQLizer:

" I searched the net for "SQL query generators" and found quite a lot, I looked more closely at some of them.

It seems there are two categories of query engines, either _really basic_ ones (query one table with constraints on the available columns and maybe sort the resultset) programmed by a Java/SQL newbie, or the _giant_ legacy systems provided by oracle (discoverer) etc usually aimed at datamarts and "non database background" end users.

Your Sqlizer fits nicely _in between_ these two categories, handling complex SQL queries with joins, subqueries, grouping, unions etc, but without too much overhead (sacrifising some ease of use for end users, they must know a little about tables, joins etc). This is ok, since the everyday user of our application is not supposed to do these kind of searches, but it is nice to have the possibility for the more advanced users. An alternative could also be to use saved queries (created by a dba) which end users edit. Since I want to include the query generator in the Java application, a _Java_ query engine is prefered. "
