not sure about the client but I can tell you that my 32mb Linux box struggled to run the installer for the DB products and while it installed the database (it took about 12 hours to rebuild the kernal!) it just couldn't run it.

Problem is, the installers and client products (well Oracle 8i) all tend to require x-windows and Java these days, which tend to gobble up memory. I wouldn't be surprised if you end up needing quite a bit to run up SQL*Plus!

If you try it though, I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it, if you don't then I might give it a go myself in a day or so and let you know how it goes.
