My knowledge is only limited (as everybody elses is), but AFAIK the PUBLIC user is not an account used to log on. Any object you own you can grant priviliges to other users. If you grant privileges to PUBLIC, ANY user will be able to use this privilege. That is the intent of PUBLIC. So, I figure PUBLIC has no 'real' schema of its own and it wouldn't make any sense to log on as PUBLIC.
But again, this information is based on limited expertise, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
