Color palette platform dependent?

Is there any way to set a color palette to be dependent on the platform settings? For example, Visual Basic and Visual C++ allow to set items according to the Windows settings, such as Window Background, Button Face, and Active Titlebar rather than fixed colors. This causes the items' colors to always match the environment's settings.
