[Quoted] [Quoted] Has anyone managed to install, configure and use Oracle 7 ODBC drivers on a WINDOWS-NT 4.0 server? If so, I would be interested in finding out who produces the drivers and which versions.

I have been attempting to establish an Oracle 7 ODBC connection across a LAN from a WINDOWS-NT 4.0 server. Everytime I attempt to connect to the database using the Oracle provided ODBC test facility or MS-Access, I get a fatal application error(specifically, an "access violation"). I have contacted Oracle, Intersolv, and Microsoft about the problem and still do not have a solution. I believe my Windows-NT, network, and database configuration to be accurate, because I can easily connect and execute queries using SQL*Plus. The problem exists with both the Oracle 7 and the Intersolv ODBC drivers which may be an indication of a problem with the ODBC Manager. The problem does not occur under Windows-95. Here is my current software configuration:

  • Windows-NT 4.0, build #1381, service pack 3.
  • Microsoft Data Access Component v1.5, which includes the ODBC Manager v3.5
  • Oracle SQL*Net v2.3.4.0.0
  • Oracle SQL*Plus v3.3.4.0.0
  • Oracle 7 32-bit ODBC driver v2.5.3.1.0b
  • Intersolv 32-bit ODBC driver v3.10

Any information you may have concerning compatible versions of Microsoft's ODBC Manager and vendor supplied ODBC drivers would be greatly appreciated.  I would prefer to use Level 2 or Level 3 compliant drivers if at all possible. Received on Wed Apr 22 1998 - 16:14:11 CEST
