Not exectly whet you requested, but here's my 0.02 :-

: Has anybody got any electronic documentation on PRO*C?

Request an Oracle Documentation CD-ROM under your support contract. These are usually shipped with the Oracle products these days rather than the heavier/ costlier books.

: PS: We don't have a PRO*C book here!

Bit silly seeing as you are trying to write Pro*C :)

The Pro*C product usually comes with some example code which is usually stored under $ORACLE_HOME in a directory hierachy similar to 'precomp/demo/ proc'. Have a look at that code, you may find something of use to you.

Another tip would be to compile the demo programs to ensure that your environment is correctly set up wrt Pro*C. Basing your makefiles on the given proc.mk (once shown to work by compiling the demo programs) is also not a bad thing.

I would recommend that you get the Oracle documentation rather than simply using others example code as otherwise you may fall into any bad habits or traps that were inherent in that example code.

Withouht knowing the version numbers of the RDBMS and Pro*C you may also find that the exeample code does not make use of all of the possible facilities and features that you have available to you.

And going even further off the beaten track:- Oh and there is always the Oraperl mode for PERL5 (DBI and DBD-Oracle modules) if you already know PERL and SQL. It may be quicker than trying to pick up Pro*C on the fly if you have no documentation. www.hermetica.com fpr more info.
