Because Oracle's dbstart/dbshut are (perforce) generic.

Because Oracle's dbstart/dbshut are (perforce) generic.
A few lines of script to start/stop/monitor the processes you need, in your specific environment, in the order you require, is hardly reinventing the wheel.
