The default NAME is LISTENER; the default PORT is 1521. You can name the listener just about anything you want and still keep the default port of 1521. Conversely you can use pretty much any port number you'd like that isn't already assigned to a service and keep the default name of LISTENER. They can be independently set. But, by default action of the Net Configuration Assistant the configured listener.ora file, if not modified, names the listener as LISTENER with a port assignment of 1521. Or, if you choose to not use a listener.ora file (in 10g and later releases such a file is not necessary) the default listener will be named LISTENER with a port assignment of 1521.
