This probably won't be of much use to you, since I know little of
Windows clustering service, nor of Oracle Fail Safe. Nevertheless:
I posed a question here not long ago about using IBM HACMP (another clustering solution) with Oracle in an active/passive configuration, and received some useful answers.
In short, I think:
- Active/active is almost certainly out of the question without RAC.
- If Windoze clustering does what it ought to (switch the database disks to the (an?) other node, take over IP addresses etc.), then in theory you should be able simply to start the instance on the (an?) other node, and open the database. No need for any FailSafe. It works for us.
