I used to worked with it for Oracle 8i and 9i and it worked perfectly. Hosts were AIX, storage boxes EMC Symmetrix. However, the systems weren't initially set-up by me, so I can't give you all the technical details. But it worked, and a complete failover to the other site took between 5-10 minutes (can't be done online however, a shutdown of the database instance is needed).
