One of my issues with so-called "expert systems" like ADDM is that this is a tool you pay money for. And why would anyone pay for a tool that does not make any suggestions? If you paid good money for this product, then it should tell you how you can improve your performance by making appropriate suggestions. So many times, the tool makes suggestions because it has to!

Now I think that ADDM has come a long way from the earlier expert systems created to tune Oracle databases. However, one must take the suggestions with a grain of salt and try to determine if the suggestion and its recommended action is worthwhile to implement.
