"Hysterical" reasons. At least that's how I understood our UGS (manufacturer of app) cosultants. They of course did not say it that way. BTW: Could you store files in a MSSQL server as well? Coz, the app can use Oracle and MSSQL. And it used to be able to use other RDBMS like Informix, "back in the days".

Yes. And seeing how the app *is* setup, it does make sense, in a way. But then again, maybe all of that (like off site storage) could also be solved by using Oracle technologies. But they chose not to use these technologies... :(
