Hi all, please forgive my ignorance in the oracle arena , I am not a dba but I am a Unix sytems Administrator.

The scenario : we are upgrading from Oracle 8 to Oracle 10g and will be having both releases running in parallel on the same server for a limited period of time.

Question: Is it possible to have an instance named 'XYZPRD' running on Oracle 8 and Oracle 10g at the same time (they are the same in name only) on the same server and, if possible, how is it done?

Many thanks in advance

Regards
