Except it's invalidated by the problems you're having right now.
Part of the "fun" of linux is that you can more easily get a severe version mismatch between the OS and rdbms. Using RHEL won't necessarily prevent all of these kinds of problems. Linux distro configurations aren't that stable. You can't treat them as a black box to the same degree as AIX or Solaris and you probably don't want to be at the mercy of your sysadmins.
