No, it is manual, and deliberate. I have multiple databases on this server, and when a CPU comes out, I do not want to roll it into all environments/dbs at once, in case issues arise after the CPU. So I patch one home, move the Dev database to it, test it for a day or so, move the test database to it, et cetera.

I don't have ORACLE_HOMEs that cannot be used on my server - I maintain only enough to allow me to roll in a CPU without being forced to put all dbs to it at the same time.

An additional step to my process might be that as I move a db from one home to another, rename that db's symlink in the /dbs directory of the home that it is no longer using. That would eliminate the confusion that the CPU ran into. Received on Thu Mar 16 2006 - 13:36:59 CST
