Hi

I have inherited a 3rd party application that has the PK in locally partitioned indexes but has another 7 global secondary indexes. I have not worked with partitions before. So I would appreciate clarifications  on this.

The requirement is to prune the partitions to 12 months from the current status of over 24 months data. I have found that if the partitions are exchanged the gloabl indexes become unusable and need to be rebuilt.

Since the data apparently is not required now, I am thinking of dropping the partitions which does not affect the status of the Global indexes. Is it necessary to rebuild the global indexes to reclaim space ?

Thanks
