I've also had some luck in the past with the script in metalink note: 1039126.6 showing me things that are causing problems. The thing about 1555 in general is, it's something else causing the problem than what is dying, but by the time you look, no problem.

If the dbc is being caused by the refresh, you would need to set retention to > 24hrs. (and Mladen's fts suggestion would work, too). The dying processes must be looking at an obscure block only accessed otherwise by the refresh.
