I don't admit I am wrong about someone not needing 3 years work experience as a UNIX admin before becoming an Oracle DBA. I do agree that some UNIX knowledge is definitely necessary if working on Oracle for UNIX (duh).

I also don't intend to stand by and watch Daniel belittle and humiliate a newbie who is considering a career choice as an Oracle DBA. It was rather obvious that the person was not yet qualified, but he was interested in knowing what the job was like before he decided whether to pursue that career path.

I didn't hear anyone claiming that a flame war was being started when Daniel belittled the OP who asked some legitimate questions. Received on Sun Jul 03 2005 - 16:28:45 CDT
